Jesus gave the ultimate example of grace by dying on the cross and wiping the slate clean for all of us, including the thief who was on the cross next to him. The thief couldn’t do anything to deserve Jesus’ love, but Jesus loved him anyway—just like he loves us!

Bottom Line:

Jesus loves me even when I don’t deserve it.

This Week’s Bible Passage: Luke 23:32-43

Joseph’s brothers threw him in a pit, sold him to some traders, and then lied to their dad about what happened! Years later, they were in need, and Joseph had the change to get back at them. Instead, he forgave them—even though they didn’t deserve it.

Bottom Line:

God wants you to forgive those who don’t deserve it.

Esther was a brave woman who loved her family and asked the king to protect them.

Jacob tricked his father and stole the blessing that was supposed to go to his brother Esau. But instead of getting even for the hurt Jacob caused, Esau chose to accept his brother and wipe the slate clean.

Bottom Line:

God wants you to accept those who’ve hurt you.

Hey Parents!

We’re going to be teaching your kids that they can help others just like so many people in the Bible did.

Here are a couple of ideas to do at home this month:

PLAY TIME:

God made your child to help and they love doing it. They love to fold clothes, wash dishes, dust, and sweep. Oh! And cook! They love to cook! Now, they may not do it just like you would, but they do enjoy helping. Make helping the focus this month and let your kids do as much as possible. Praise them for being such wonderful helpers!

BED TIME:

“Dear God, sometimes it’s hard to help others. Sometimes we just don’t feel like it. We know we can help even when it’s hard, though, because you’re always with us, helping us. Thank you for being our strength. We love you, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Definition:

“Wiping the slate clean.”

The Big Idea this month provides a great opportunity to help your kids understand God’s amazing grace. He loves us and is always willing to wipe the slate clean. So when other people hurt us, God wants us to show them grace, to accept them and forgive them, even when they don’t deserve it.
