3 Ways You Can Help Your Child Grow Stronger

By ParentStuf / Posted on 05 January 2015

Happy New Year! This month is Basic Training and we want to partner with you to help your kids grow stronger! Our kids are growing in their math and reading skills, so this would be a great time to help them grow in their faith. We have an awesome challenge designed to help them do just that. We hope you will accept the challenge!

Family Basic Training Challenge:

1. Memorize Joshua 1:8

Joshua 1:8

Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Want your kids to know how to make wise choices, to stand up for what is right, and be a great friend? The Bible is FULL of advice and great teaching that will help your kids grow stronger in life. Learning their monthly Bible verse is a great way to make sure this life-changing truth finds its way into their hearts.

2. Learn the books of the Bible with this super-fun song

The Bible is a big book and can be kind of overwhelming. A great way to help your kids get started is to help them learn how to find their way through the different books of the Bible. We recommend that you purchase a kid-friendly Bible for your child. We use the Adventure Bible, New International Version (NIV) on UpStreet. Your church Resource Center will carry several kid-friendly options or ask your UpStreet team for help.

3. Pray together

We teach our kids that prayer is just talking to God, and he really cares about what’s happening in our everyday lives and wants us to turn to him. You can start praying together by telling God about your day, saying thank you, or asking God to help you. It will really help your kids grow stronger in their faith if they learn to turn to God and ask for strength and guidance.

As your kids grow, they’re going to face bigger decisions and challenges. You have so much guidance and wisdom to offer them. One of the greatest gifts you can give your kids is to help them establish the habits of reading the Bible, memorizing Scripture verses, and seeking God in their everyday lives.

Don’t worry if you’re not sure where to start. We have a plan! Every month in KidStuf, we launch a Big Idea and send home a simple family activity to get you and your kids talking about God’s Big Ideas. Make sure your kids are in UpStreet every Sunday, and we’ll make sure they have an awesome small group leader who is also helping them understand God’s Big Ideas. Grab the monthly Parent Card or come here to ParentStuf and you and your kids will get solid verses to memorize and great Bible stories to read together.

We’ve got a great plan for 2015 and we hope you will jump in with us. Sounds like a great new family resolution to me! Happy New Year!

Just want to say thank you all soo much. I brought 5 boys to KidStuf encore this month – and wanted to tell you, what you’re teaching works. I wish you could hear the conversations they have with each other on the car ride home. I tear as I thank God for these wonderful children as they “get it”. Watch out – this generation of kids may just change the world to be the place God has always wanted.

Wow, Debbie thank you so much for sharing! So encouraging to hear stories of God at work in the lives and conversations of those who attend our experiences and environments! I think you’ve said it right about God having big plans in store for this generation!
